A Hotel Defined by Design and Atmosphere
At first glance, the property follows familiar markers of an Italian luxury stay: a pool, a spa, and finely detailed rooms. The experience, however, takes a different direction once each space is examined more closely.
The pool appears as an oval-shaped surface of still water placed in a clearing of umbrella pine trees. Its placement gives it a striking visual presence, often described as one of the most photographed swimming settings in hospitality.
The wellness area avoids conventional framing. Instead of a typical spa layout, the space functions as a subterranean bathhouse with pools, thermal rooms, and bathing areas lit by candlelight and warmed by open fireplaces.
Guest rooms continue the same design language. Four-poster beds, designed by Count Benedikt Bolza, are dressed in Italian cotton percale featuring cross-stitch embroidery of the estate emblem. Every detail reflects a hands-on design approach rather than standardized hotel furnishing.

Architectural direction, furniture design, fresco painting, and interior detailing were all developed within the family circle. Benedikt Bolza led the restoration and created much of the furniture. Nencia Bolza contributed frescoes inside the estate chapel, blending botanical illustration with family history.
This background shaped the next step: Reschio Collections, led by daughters Giorgiana, Nerina, and Vita. The idea did not begin as a commercial expansion but as a structured way to present objects already used within the estate.
Giorgiana describes this evolution clearly:
“In many ways, it’s not something new. We have always been designing in one form or another… What has changed is that it has now taken on a more defined and structured form.”
The collection grew from long-standing habits such as altering clothing, sketching ideas, and building practical items for daily use.
Objects Inspired by Daily Living
The first release of items reflects objects already used in everyday life at the estate. Each piece began with a specific need or repeated use case, later refined with artisans.
Among the initial designs:
1. A cotton and Tuscan leather bag designed to carry watercolor supplies into the countryside
2. A leather pouch that attaches to a belt, originally created to prevent misplaced phones during outdoor activity
3. Friulana velvet slippers produced by a local shoemaker in deep, rich color tones
4. Estate bed linens made from Italian cotton percale, responding to repeated guest interest in purchasing them
One detail stands out in particular: the staff uniforms, designed with inspiration from historic rural Italian workwear and dyed in tones drawn from the Umbrian surroundings, including olive and burgundy shades.
Nerina explains the appeal behind these items:
“There is something about seeing a piece worn and lived in that makes you notice it differently, and makes it more desirable.”
The collection developed not from abstract design goals but from items already tested through daily use on the property.

A central focus of the collection remains the support of traditional skills and long-term artisan relationships across Italy. Many of the craftspeople involved have worked closely with the estate for years, often producing pieces exclusively for it.

“It is about rediscovering and reintroducing ways of doing things that might otherwise be forgotten.”
Vita adds another layer of intent:
“It's about producing in Italy and supporting traditional knowledge and skills, which are increasingly being replaced by machines or outsourced to distant countries.”
This approach places importance on continuity rather than scale. The production process stays closely tied to Italian workshops and regional expertise, with an emphasis on maintaining knowledge that risks fading in industrial manufacturing systems.

The Poggibonsi lamp holds particular significance within the estate’s design history. It was one of the first objects created during early restoration phases, making its return in updated form a continuation of earlier design thinking.
Nerina reflects on this ongoing evolution:
“As our lives change, the collection may shift too. We view the collection as something that grows alongside the estate, and alongside daily life.”
